20 Oct Ridge Engineering Celebrates Grand Opening of New Building
Westminster, MD, Friday, October 20, 2023 – The Carroll County Board of Commissioners and Department of Economic Development are pleased to announce the grand opening of Ridge Engineering’s new building in Hampstead. Located at 1901 Legacy Drive, the new manufacturing facility is adjacent to their existing facility on Hampstead-Mexico Road (MD 482).
Ridge Engineering, a custom manufacturer of precision machined products for aerospace and defense, was founded in 1967 by Bob Tracey and his wife Edith. The company was initially housed in their basement on Ridge Road in Upperco, hence the company name, Ridge. As the company continued to grow, the Tracey’s purchased a building on Main Street in Hampstead.
In 1980 the company bought land on MD 482 and built a new facility, which has seen several expansions over the years. In 2020, with continuing growth, the Tracey’s purchased 10 acres of land adjacent to their existing building and constructed a new, 85,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility.
Ridge invited the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new building with two open houses, held on October 13 and 14. Attendees included the Tracey family, company executives, area residents, customers, suppliers, and government officials.
Commissioner Ken Kiler, District 2, stated, “Ridge is a true testament to the type of home-grown growth Carroll County believes in. Growing a company from two employees to nearly 200 right here in Hampstead is a good example of how supporting a small business can result in big rewards. I thank the Tracey family for their investment in our County and will ensure we continue to nurture other businesses who can grow to their potential right here in Carroll County.”
