BUSINESS ADVOCACY & PROJECT COORDINATION
Once the crucial phase of site selection is complete, the site development and/or permitting process begins. Carroll County staff is committed to ensuring that business developments take priority in our system. For land development projects, we schedule individual meetings between the developer and an interdepartmental team of review agencies. The meeting focuses on project specifics and aims to identify any potential issues early in the process.
In addition, the County has streamlined regulations for smaller site plans. Generally, business development projects disturbing less than 5,000 square feet with no additional proposed road entrances or other special considerations may be eligible for a simplified site plan review. This designation also exempts the project from development review fees, though other fees do apply.
If you are simply moving into existing space, our goal is to help you navigate the permitting process and comply with all applicable codes and regulations. To that end, we offer an opportunity for you to attend a short pre-venture planning meeting with our department and the County Bureau of Permits and Inspections. This meeting will provide you with essential information you’ll need to make important business decisions related to opening your business.
