Warfield Project Settles

Westminster, MD, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 – The Warfield Project in Sykesville officially settled yesterday, June 26, 2018, returning almost $3.5 million to the Carroll County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) and almost $1 million dollars to Carroll County coffers. This momentous occasion in the 18+ year development project officially places the project in the hands of the developers.

The project came to fruition as a result of partnerships with Carroll County Government staff, the Town of Sykesville, the IDA and the developer who worked together to move the enterprise forward.

County Commissioner for District 5 Doug Howard said, “It is truly amazing that this long and complicated process is complete. The state and county have their investment back, the property is on the tax rolls and a great project is about to begin. Completion of this process reflects years of cooperative effort between the county, the town, the developer and the Hogan administration. I am very proud of all of those involved.”

Carroll County Economic Development Director Jack Lyburn added, “The Carroll County Department of Economic Development is excited that The Warfield Collaborative, LLC finalized the deal for development of the property with the Town of Sykesville. The Warfield Commerce Center offers a blend of mixed-use development that is in demand and as it develops, it will create a vibrant gateway in South Carroll.”

Construction of townhomes should begin soon and the project should add to the tax rolls. Commercial space in existing buildings is already being marketed, with planned renovation of the remaining historic buildings. The project also includes three parcels for new commercial development.
