SUMMARY:Grand Opening & Free Skin Cancer Screening for Military Member/Veterans
DESCRIPTION:Dermatology Partners\, a premiere privately owned and physician-led dermatology group\, will open a new office in Westminster\, its third in Maryland since the Pennsylvania-headquartered practice entered the state in September 2023. \nAs part of its grand opening\, Dermatology Partners will offer free skin cancer screenings to all members of the military and veterans. This will take place in honor of and on Veterans Day\, November 11\, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Anyone interested in signing up can call 888-895-3376 for a skin cancer screening\, which should take approximately five minutes. \nThe new Westminster clinic\, located at 535 Old Westminster Pike\, Suite 100\, Westminster\, will be led by dermatologist and Mohs Micrographic surgeon Dr. Olufolakemi “Kemi” Awe\, MD\, PhD\, FAAD. Dr. Awe will provide a full range of dermatologic care\, including medical\, surgical\, and cosmetic dermatology services. \n“Dr. Awe is committed to providing exceptional\, patient-centric care\, focusing on the unique needs of each individual she treats\,” says Dermatology Partners’ Chief Operating Officer Andrew Frankel. “This makes her the ideal person to meet the growing demand for dermatologic care in the Westminster community while upholding Dermatology Partners’ reputation for maintaining the highest standards of excellence in the delivery of general dermatology services and advanced treatments for skin cancer.” \n“I am very excited to join Dermatology Partners\, a practice that shares my own vision of providing compassionate\, personalized\, and immediate treatment to each patient we serve\,” adds Dr. Awe. \nPrior to joining Dermatology Partners\, Dr. Awe was lead co-investigator for a NIH-funded project focused on novel topical therapies for improving sun-damaged skin and preventing skin cancer. \nDr. Awe received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and her MD/PhD in immunology from Indiana University\, where she worked with one of the leading T-helper cell biologists in the country. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham\, followed by a year as a UAB Dermatology faculty member. \nFollowing residency\, Dr. Awe completed her fellowship in Mohs Micrographic surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery\, the American Academy of Dermatology\, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery\, and is Board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. \nUnder Dr. Awe’s leadership\, Dermatology Partners’ new Westminster clinic will offer patients access to advanced technologies and immediate care\, a best-in-class management team\, expanded healthcare offerings\, and a strong commitment to patient satisfaction. \nThe Westminster office will start with five new employees but plans to triple its staff within the next two years.
