DESCRIPTION:Join us for the South Carroll Business Association’s 30th Anniversary Celebration at Liberatore’s Ristorante on Wednesday\, December 17\, 2025. \nOld friends\, new members—everyone is welcome as we celebrate three decades of community and connection. \nOur speakers this month are Sheriff DeWees and Chief Spaulding. \nSheriff DeWees is the 58th Sheriff of Carroll County and was recently elected as the president of the Maryland Sheriffs Association. He is a retired captain with the Maryland State Police and has been policing Carroll County for more than 36 years. He attended our very own South Carroll High School\, Mount Saint Mary’s University\, Seton Hall University and beyond. He has served our community since 1991. \nChief Michael Spaulding of the Sykesville Police Department has a long career in law enforcement. He attended the University of Maryland\, where he received a BA in Criminology and The Johns Hopkins University where he received a MS in Management. Chief Spaulding has served the state of Maryland and our community since 1987.  \nThe SCBA holds its monthly luncheon on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 12 noon at Liberatore’s Ristorante 6300 Georgetown Blvd.\, Sykesville\, MD. DESCRIPTION:This month we are excited to welcome Dr. Cindy McCabe\, Superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools to be our speaker. \nDr. McCabe earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Towson State University in 1994\, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She earned a Master of Education in Policy\, Planning\, and Administration. In 2023\, McCabe received her Doctorate in Education through Walden University’s Ed.D. program. \nShe began her career as a fifth grade teacher at Clemens Crossing Elementary School in Howard County Public Schools in 1994. She became a Gifted and Talented Resource Specialist in 1997 and a Professional Development Schools (PDS) Coordinator in 2000. \nDr. McCabe joined the Carroll County Public School System as Assistant Principal at Piney Ridge Elementary School in 2001 and became Principal at Piney Ridge in 2003. She became Elementary Supervisor in 2007 and Director of Elementary Schools in 2011\, and assumed the position of Chief of Schools for Carroll County Public Schools in 2019. \nThe SCBA holds its monthly luncheon on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 12 noon at Liberatore’s Ristorante 6300 Georgetown Blvd.\, Sykesville\, MD.
