Fuch's NA Breaks Ground in Hampstead
Over 200 people celebrated Fuchs North America’s groundbreaking on June 23 at the North Carroll Business Park in Hampstead. The company was more locally known as “Baltimore Spice” before being bought by the Fuchs Group in 1990. The company purchased 21 acres of industrially zoned land on which to build a 230,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility.
Fuchs manufactures customized seasonings. The company will consolidate operations at the new plant which will include corporate headquarters, product development, manufacturing, quality control and warehousing operations. The company is expected to employ approximately 160 people.
The company looked at many locations before settling on Hampstead, including Pennsylvania. Dan Cooper, Fuchs North America CEO, noted costs and proximity to its current site as factors in its decision. In the end however, Mr. Cooper said it was Carroll County’s “proactiveness” and customer service that ultimately solidified the decision to locate in Hampstead. The Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development worked in cooperation with county and local officials to ensure the company retained operations in Maryland.
The new building is expected to be open in June of 2016 and in full operations by September 2016. The new building is expected to be LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficiency Design) certified.
Carroll County is excited to welcome Fuchs North America and looks forward to watching the company continue to prosper.
